Rentapen Inc., located in Waukesha, WI, inspires and guides student-trainees for the potential manufacturing workforce.
The Dream It. Do It. is a national campaign sponsored by the National Association of Manufacturers. Its goal is to help young adults find careers that they can be passionate about in the manufacturing industry.
Rentapen Inc. is a machine design company specializing in cost reductions for manufacturers. Rentapen is playing a part in the Dream It. Do It. campaign by participating in Co-op & Internship Programs and providing an Educational Blog.
The Co-op & Internship Program helps students apply classroom learning with real life job experience. For example Peter Christiansen was a student at WCTC, studying IT Programming and joined Rentapen as an IT intern. Christiansen is now creating a program that will make it easier for jig and weld fixture design engineers to download 3D models of Rentapen’s RAPid Tooling Components™.
“Rentapen actively participates in the Co-op & Internship Programs because we want to educate the up and coming engineering students about the opportunities in the manufacturing industry. It provides practical experiences for students and provides us with an opportunity to train a new employee for less costs,” said Susan Straley, President of Rentapen Inc.
Rentapen’s President and Queen of Lean Machine Design, Susan Straley, has created a Weld Fixture Design Blog. The Blog is part of Rentapen’s Growing Machine Design Engineers Program, where Rentapen hires interns and trains them while they work. Rentapen has created a series of videos and instructions on best practices.
The inspiration to create the Blog came when Straley found out that 40% of the engineering workforce was going to retire in 8 years. Straley wanted to share her knowledge and experiences that she has gained over the years through working with a variety of customers.
Rentapen provides jobs, training and opportunities for people who work together to help manufacturers reduce the costs of tooling to make their product.
